I probably did say that. What I mean is...if you want to write well, you should read very good writing. When I wrote and sold my first adult urban fantasy series, I'd never read an urban fantasy. But I was reading really great contemporary literary fiction. Jennifer Egan, Kazuo Ishiguro, Carolyn Parkhurst, Matt Haig. Lots of others. People who are playing with structure and story and writing economically.
Just wondering, you have mentioned that you should read the best there is in the genre you want to write. What are your suggestions for that?
